“UVB-76 is a mysterious radio broadcast, consisting of nothing but an unpleasant buzzing noise, which has been going almost non-stop since 1982, and comes from somewhere in Russia. Three times during its nearly thirty year history, the buzzing has stopped, somebody has read a list of Russian names, and then the buzzing started up again. Nobody knows exactly why, although it’s probably to do with spies or something.” ~ Agent 3Z

At 21:58 GMT on December 24, 1997, the buzzing abruptly stopped to be replaced by a short series of beeps, and a male voice speaking Russian announced: “Ya — UVB-76. 18008. BROMAL: Boris, Roman, Olga, Mikhail, Anna, Larisa. 742, 799, 14.”The same message was repeated several times before the beep sequence repeated and the buzzer resumed.
A similar voice message was broadcast on September 12, 2002, but with extreme distortion (possibly as a result of the source being too close to the microphone head) that rendered comprehension very difficult. This second voice broadcast has been partially translated as “UVB-76, UVB-76. 62691 Izafet 3693 8270.”
A third voice message was broadcast on February 21, 2006 at 7:57 GMT. (recording of the third voice transmission) Again, the speaking voice was highly distorted, but the message’s content translates as: “75-59-75-59. 39-52-53-58. 5-5-2-5. Konstantin-1-9-0-9-0-8-9-8-Tatiana-Oksana-Anna-Elena-Pavel-Schuka. Konstantin 8-4. 9-7-5-5-9-Tatiana. Anna Larisa Uliyana-9-4-1-4-3-4-8.”These names are found in some Russian spelling alphabets, similar to the NATO phonetic alphabet.
A possible fourth message was broadcast on September 29, 2009.

Markos Moulitsas, founder of DailyKos, recently commissioned Research 2000 to poll over 2,000 self-identified Republicans to see what they actually believed.  To quote Kos “The results are nothing short of startling.”

The highlights can be found here.

68% believe, or think its open for debate, that Pres. Obama should be impeached.

79% believe Pres. Obama is, or could possibly be, a socialist.

58% don’t believe or aren’t sure Pres. Obama was born in the US.

57% believe, or think its possible, that Pres. Obama “wants the terrorists to win.”

…..and that’s not even the scariest bit!

76% believe, or think its possible that ACORN stole the 2008 election.

73% believe gays shouldn’t be allowed to teach in public schools.

77% believe literal creationism should be taught in public schools.

31% believe contraceptives should be outlawed.

…..and the list goes on and on.

Not sure about ‘finally’ but, yeah, we are screwed.

Lord Uranda & The Emissaries of Divine Light ~
In 1932, in the midst of the Depression years, Lloyd Arthur Meeker, was living in Nashville, Tennessee.
He was twenty-five years old at the time when he began to “channel” a Being known as Uranda. For three successive nights, while in trance, he blogged some gnarly teachings. As he reported later, during this initial encounter with Uranda the room filled with a silvery cloud.
Through his writing came answers to questions that had been in his mind and heart for many years. It astounded him that the answers didn’t come from anything separate from him, but from a reality that dwelt deep within him. It was described as a case of spontaneously arising gnosis.
That time marked the beginning of a spiritual movement that Uranda named The Emissaries of Divine Light.
For the next thirteen years, Uranda traveled across the United States and Canada, teaching, writing, and doing vibrational healing work. (He later teamed-up with a British nobleman by the name of Martin Exeter… more on that some day, maybe.)
Uranda was recognized by his hundreds of devotees as a Being from a distant planet, and the most advanced Being to ever have visited Earth… the most enlightened Teacher of them all… ever. They knew this as fact. Of course.
Today his “Third Sacred School” has morphed into the “Fourth Sacred School”. They are now an “international spiritual network” who continue to serve and guide humanity “vibrationally”.
Amongst themselves they share a conviction of great purpose and a sense of enlightened superiority. Many Emissaries are beyond learning because they already know. They consequently enjoy, amongst themselves, an unshakable certainty of divine specialness. This deep sense of specialness is very, very strong. It electrifies them. It radiates from them. It makes their eyes shine. They know what they know. They know who they are. They know how important their work is. They know they know. And above all, they have Uranda.
Right now they are working tirelessly to help steer Earth’s spiritual leaders, political figures, global events, even planetary weather patterns; they even have a technique for helping the Sun to shine. They use vibrational methods to shift patterns. EDL is above all a “vibrational ministry”.
As for their lifestyle, the higher-ups, as you might expect, aren’t bound by any convention. They do what they want, they serve a higher law, or as they phrase it, “the truth of love”.
It follows that most of their history and esoteric teachings and practices are utterly secret to all but the most core members and the “Supreme Council” itself, i.e. spiritual board of directors.
Also, Uranda’s spoken words were consistently transcribed into fancy hardbound volumes… lots and lots of volumes. For the Emissaries, these books are the most sacred texts on Earth. A good Emissary won’t read anything but these books, as they are granted access over time - after the appropriate classes have been taken, prerequisite retreats attended and proper devotional services rendered - they are rewarded with access to the next volume - or they are finally offered a secret book they didn’t know existed.
That’s how it works. They have a very structured, hierachical and secretive organization through which one advances incrementally… if they choose you and approve your progress.
Nowadays, the elders of the Supreme Council operate as invisibly and anonymously as possible and have done their best to disappear from plain sight. The Council has recently begun to call themselves “the steering committee” as an attempt to appear less grandiose to others.
Many Emissaries do continue to live communally - from Ashland, OR to Loveland, CO to Vancouver, BC. In fact, they have Centers networked around the globe where they continue to carry out the Master’s vision. They have, however, radically altered their facade, their tone and curriculum; the past is the past. In fact, the past is so much the past they kinda want to blow-off the silvery cloud origins. Their own Precious Guru, Lord Uranda himself, quickly becoming yet another secret as they go about their busy spiritual business.

Asch Conformity Experiment

aka Group Think vs. YOU.

This 4min video shows how easy it is to conform, even against your own perceptions and experiences.

You experience this mental bug in: Politics, Society, Religion, Corporations, Peer Groups, etc…you know, the real Great Beast…

Think, Think, THINK.

  • ANKARA, Turkey - The Turkish man who shot Pope John Paul II nearly 29 years ago emerged from prison and declared himself a messenger from God, then spent his first night of freedom in a luxury hotel room.
  • “I will meet you in the next three days,” Agca said. “In the name of God Almighty, I proclaim the end of the world in this century. All the world will be destroyed, every human being will die. I am not God, I am not son of God, I am Christ eternal.”
  • Agca, who has previously claimed to be the Messiah, said the Gospel was full of mistakes and he would write the perfect one. He delivered a similar message in a long, rambling statement distributed by Abosoglu outside the prison in Sincan on the outskirts of Ankara, the Turkish capital.

  • New rules to be introduced by government decree will require people who upload videos onto the Internet to obtain authorization from the Communications Ministry similar to that required by television broadcasters, drastically reducing freedom to communicate over the Web, opposition lawmakers have warned.
  • The decree is ostensibly an enactment of a European Union (EU) directive on product placement and is due to go into effect at the end of January after being subjected to a nonbinding appraisal by parliament.

  • President Barack Obama’s appointee to head the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs advocated “cognitive infiltration” of groups that advocate “conspiracy theories” like the ones surrounding 9/11.
  • Cass Sunstein, a Harvard law professor, co-wrote an academic article entitled “Conspiracy Theories: Causes and Cures,” in which he argued that the government should stealthily infiltrate groups that pose alternative theories on historical events via “chat rooms, online social networks, or even real-space groups and attempt to undermine” those groups.
  • As head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, Sunstein is in charge of “overseeing policies relating to privacy, information quality, and statistical programs,” according to the White House Web site.
  • Sunstein’s article, published in the Journal of Political Philosphy in 2008 and recently uncovered by blogger Marc Estrin, states that “our primary claim is that conspiracy theories typically stem not from irrationality or mental illness of any kind but from a ‘crippled epistemology,’ in the form of a sharply limited number of (relevant) informational sources.”
  • By “crippled epistemology” Sunstein means that people who believe in conspiracy theories have a limited number of sources of information that they trust. Therefore, Sunstein argued in the article, it would not work to simply refute the conspiracy theories in public — the very sources that conspiracy theorists believe would have to be infiltrated.
  • Sunstein, whose article focuses largely on the 9/11 conspiracy theories, suggests that the government “enlist nongovernmental officials in the effort to rebut the theories. It might ensure that credible independent experts offer the rebuttal, rather than government officials themselves. There is a tradeoff between credibility and control, however. The price of credibility is that government cannot be seen to control the independent experts.”
  • Download a PDF of the article here.
  • Sunstein argued that “government might undertake (legal) tactics for breaking up the tight cognitive clusters of extremist theories.” He suggested that “government agents (and their allies) might enter chat rooms, online social networks, or even real-space groups and attempt to undermine percolating conspiracy theories by raising doubts about their factual premises, causal logic or implications for political action.”

  • (CNN)James Cameron’s completely immersive spectacle “Avatar” may have been a little too real for some fans who say they have experienced depression and suicidal thoughts after seeing the film because they long to enjoy the beauty of the alien world Pandora.
  • On the fan forum site “Avatar Forums,” a topic thread entitled “Ways to cope with the depression of the dream of Pandora being intangible,” has received more than 1,000 posts from people experiencing depression and fans trying to help them cope. The topic became so popular last month that forum administrator Philippe Baghdassarian had to create a second thread so people could continue to post their confused feelings about the movie.
  • A user named Mike wrote on the fan Web site “Naviblue” that he contemplated suicide after seeing the movie.
  • “Ever since I went to see ‘Avatar’ I have been depressed. Watching the wonderful world of Pandora and all the Na’vi made me want to be one of them. I can’t stop thinking about all the things that happened in the film and all of the tears and shivers I got from it,” Mike posted. “I even contemplate suicide thinking that if I do it I will be rebirthed in a world similar to Pandora and the everything is the same as in ‘Avatar.’ “

(Makes me think of the William Shatner SNL skit at a Star Trek Convention. He addresses the throngs and says “I know many of you have come out miles just to be here and I want to say..GET A LIFE. Will you people? For crying out loud, it’s just a TV show.”)

  • Monsignor Corrado Balducci, a theologian member of the Vatican Curia (governing body), and an insider close to the Pope, has gone on Italian national television five times, including recent months, to proclaim that extraterrestrial contact is a real phenomenon. Balducci provided an analysis of extraterrestrials that he feels is consistent with the Catholic Church’s understanding of theology. Monsignor Balducci emphasizes that extraterrestrial encounters “are NOT demonic, they are NOT due to psychological impairment, they are NOT a case of entity attachment, but these encounters deserve to be studied carefully.” Since Monsignor Balducci is a demonology expert and consultant to the Vatican , and since the Catholic Church has historically demonized many new phenomena that were poorly understood, his stating that the Church does not censure these encounters is all the more remarkable.
  • Balducci revealed to a visiting American professional that the Vatican is closely following this phenomenon quietly. My informant originally surmised that the Vatican is receiving much information about extraterrestrials and their contacts with humans from its Nunciatures (embassies) in various countries. But subsequent information indicated that the Monsignor has gotten his cases from other sources. Monsignor Balducci is a member of a group which acts as consultants to the Vatican on various matters concerning humans in possible contact with supernatural beings. As such, the matter of extraterrestrial encounters would fall within their purview, and possibly as well the spiritual significance of the emerging general realization of extraterrestrial contact.
  • Parallel information from National Security Council scientist Dr. Michael Wolf , a member of the NSC’s SSG subcommittee for managing the UFO phenomenon, as well as from noted author and Vatican expert Father Malachi Martin, suggests that the Vatican is concerned that it will have a major doctrinal updating situation on its hands when extraterrestrial contact becomes authoritatively announced by world governments over the next several years.

(wish the references were linked, but disinfo or not is the main question. Here is Mnsgr. Balducci speaking on a Italian TV talk show about life on other planets.)

hereblog:

Rudy Giuliani has now claimed on Good Morning America (yay for YouTube): “We had no domestic [‘terror’] attacks under Bush. We’ve had one under Obama [re: failed underwear bomber].”

Not only was Giuliani the mayor of NYC during the Bush Administration at the time of the 9/11 attacks, he also capitalized on it to raise his national profile and run for president in 2008, a campaign during which he earned the nickname Mr. Noun-Verb-9/11. (That’s all he talked about.) Moreover, there were four attacks on 9/11 alone: American Airlines Flights 11 and 77, and United Airlines Flights 93 and 175. Moreover, there were mailed anthrax attacks that same month. Moreover, there was the infamous failed shoe bombing attack that took place in American airspace on a flight to Miami in December 2001. As for Giuliani’s personal credibility, NYC’s multi-million dollar command center was destroyed on 9/11 because he personally made the decision, against expert recommendation, to build it in the World Trade Center — even though it was widely understood to be the likeliest target in the event of an attack. Why? So he and his mistress would have a convenient rendezvous point near Giuliani’s office in City Hall.

Back to Bush, that’s 6 domestic attacks that we know about within the first year of Bush’s administration, which then exploited those events to usurp hundreds of billions in public money to wage two failed wars (the larger one being blatantly unjustified, inflammatory, and illegal). Giuliani was right there with them, the consummate cheerleader.

Giuliani’s statement can only be rationally viewed as one element of a concerted right-wing effort to revise history in their favor. As poor as establishment liberals may be at taking advantage of their power, we would be absolute fools to put the foxes back in the henhouse.

Visualizing the Underwear Bomber’s Online Life

  • The Obama administration is due to release a declassified intelligence report today on Detroit terror suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a.k.a. the Underwear Bomber. Courtesy of the invaluable Computational Legal Studies Blog, we can take a closer look at Abdulmutallab’s online life — and possibly, his increasing radicalization.
  • Under the online handle “Farouk1986,” Abdulmutallab was a regular on the Islamic forum Gawaher.com, where he appears to have posted 310 times between 2005 and 2007. Thanks to the Evan Kohlmann of the NEFA Foundation, we now have all of Farouk1986’s posts, assembled into a single file. The CLS Blog took this one step further, generating a basic visualization and analysis of the structure of Farouk1986’s online communication network as it evolved over time.
  • To do that, the CLS Blog expanded on the NEFA dataset to map out Farouk1986’s secondary and indirect communications and generate deeper context. “In order to obtain a better understanding of this communication network, we retrieved every ‘topic’ in which Farouk1986 participated at least once,” the authors write. “Each ‘topic’ is comprised of one or more ‘posts’ from one or more users. Each ‘post’ may be in response to another user’s ‘post.’ The NEFA data contains only posts made by Farouk1986 – our data contains the entire context within which his posts existed.”
  • So what does this add to the understanding of the man who attempted to take down Northwest Airlines flight 253? For starters, Farouk1986 appeared to have joined an existing online network that moved his life in a more religious direction. Once he joined that network, his online interactions became more stable. Put otherwise, it may reflect the tendency of online behavior to become a “feedback loop.” Instead of expanding his apparent network of contacts, it became more exclusive and self-reinforcing.

(SO this is how the NSA does it for all bloggers of note…hmmm…A practical understanding of John Boyd’s OODA loop definitely in effect here.)

  • We mere mortals need to shape up our thinking. Goldman Sachs’ employees are so special that they ought to be viewed in the same category as professional athletes and movie stars, according to a board member of the Wall Street behemoth.
  • Bill George, a former boss of the medical technology firm Medtronic who has been a Goldman Sachs director since 2002, has delivered a curious defence of the bank’s likely payout of $22bn to its employees for 2009 in an interview with a video website, BigThink.com.
  • “The shareholder value is made up in people and you need the people there to do the job, says George, at about the 2 mins 40 mark in this clip. “If you don’t pay them for their performance, you’ll lose them. It’s much like professional athletes and movie stars.”

(Let’s lose them..PLEASE.)
